When the first version of Obsidian CF didn’t quite meet expectations on Markforged systems, our product development team went back to the drawing board. We refined the polymer blend, enhanced processability, and ran extensive cross-platform testing to ensure superior performance.
The outcome is a material that not only matches Onyx’s matte black finish, stiffness, and durability but also prints reliably across a wider range of machines. Whether you’re using a Markforged X7, Bambu X1E, or Bambu H2D, Obsidian CF V2 offers professional-grade results without the constraints of a single OEM ecosystem.

In side-by-side tensile testing, Obsidian CF V2 averaged 80.63 MPa on the Markforged X7 compared to 71.98 MPa from Onyx. The material also delivered impressive results on other platforms, averaging 80.62 MPa on the Bambu X1E and 75.71 MPa on the Bambu H2D.
That consistency across machines sets Obsidian V2 apart, proving its strength, reliability, and versatility in real-world applications.
