PEBA Permanently Joins 3DXTECH’s Portfolio of Materials
Originally released through the 3DXLabs program, PEBA has now become a permanent part of 3DXTECH’s 3DXFLEX line of flexible 3D printing filaments.
3DXLabs was started in 2025 by 3DXTECH to explore a variety of materials designed to fill gaps in the additive manufacturing industry. Filaments under the 3DXLabs banner are intended to be smaller-scale production runs of innovative new materials, giving engineers, researchers, and advanced makers the opportunity to experiment with them and play a pivotal role in their development.
“Every material in the program is fully printable and has been tested in-house, but we recognize that the real value comes from seeing how these materials perform outside our lab. By sharing your feedback, you’re helping us fine-tune solutions to meet your needs,” said Rachel Rogers, Product Manager at 3DXTECH, regarding the 3DXLabs program.
One of the 3DXLabs materials to gain the most traction since its release in April 2026 was PEBA. PEBA stands for polyether block amide, a thermoplastic elastomer built from alternating polyamide (nylon) hard segments and polyether soft segments. The polyamide blocks provide structural stiffness, while the polyether blocks deliver flexibility and impact energy return.
Unlike TPUs of equivalent durometer, PEBA 90A offers lower density and higher energy rebound, making it an excellent option for applications requiring lightweight parts that can withstand significant impacts.
During its time as a 3DXLabs product, PEBA demonstrated its viability across multiple applications and quickly became a customer favorite. Following valuable customer feedback and significant interest in the material, 3DXTECH has decided to incorporate PEBA into its official filament portfolio. The filament will now be offered under the name 3DXFLEX™ PEBA (90A).
The success of PEBA is a prime example of the 3DXLabs program working as intended. By giving customers early access to innovative materials and incorporating their feedback into the development process, 3DXTECH can identify promising materials and bring them into its broader product portfolio. The addition of 3DXFLEX™ PEBA (90A) marks another step in that process, turning an experimental material into an established offering based on real-world customer interest and application feedback.
