MAX-G™ 20% Glass Fiber Reinforced PETG

MAX-G™ GF20 PETG is a structural grade of PETG Copolyester that expands your capabilities for adding strength and toughness to your printed part.  We chose a specialty grade of glass fiber reinforcement that was ideal for co-polyester and 3D Printing.  

This filament is suitable for use in practically any desktop 3D Printer that has a heated bed.  Glass fiber is very abrasive and we strongly recommend using our A2 Hardened Steel Nozzles when printing with glass fiber reinforced materials - HERE

Chemical Resistance:  Unstressed tensile bars molded of PETG exhibit good resistance to dilute aqueous solutions of mineral acids, bases, salts, and soaps, and to aliphatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, and a variety of oils. Halogenated hydrocarbons, short chain length ketones, and aromatic hydrocarbons dissolve or swell the plastic. 

Recommended Print Conditions:

  • Extruder:  Ideally 245 to 260°C
  • Bed Temp:  60 to 70C
  • Bed Prep:  Hairspray or PVA glue on clean glass, perf board, PEI sheet.  We have had great results using a thick coat of Aquanet hair spray on clean glass.  We make sure the first layer is pressed into the bed for extra grip to reduce lifting.
  • Hardened Nozzle: 0.4mm or larger.  Glass fiber is very abrasive and will quickly wear out a brass nozzle.  We strongly recommend using our A2 Hardened Steel Nozzles - HERE
  • Layer Height:  Ideal layer height is 60% of nozzle diameter.  We do not recommend printing layers below 0.25mm with glass fiber grades.  Lower than 0.25mm may create too much back pressure in the hot end and result in poor feeding, jams, drive gear clicking, and eating a notch into the filament.
  • Drying:  This product is supplied dry and sealed in thick 4mil bag with packs of desiccant.  Even though PETG absorbs less moisture than many other polymers, it will eventually become wet and need to be dried out.  This moisture will result in popping at the nozzle (water boiling off, a little steam) and excessive drooling, stringing, and nozzle build-up.  Make sure to keep this filament in a dry location between uses.  If the filament does get wet, you can dry it out with a basic toaster oven (not one for the family food!).  We recommend drying it for 2+ hours at 60-70°C.  Hotter than 70°C may result in the filament sticking together on the reel.
